A tea pet is a small clay figure which is kept by tea drinkers for good luck. They are usually represent zodiac animals or mythical creatures and symbolize good luck, fortune, or happiness. By pouring tea over them you are showing a symbolic act of care — like sharing your tea with a quiet companion at the table. As the pet absorbs tea, it slowly darkens and develops a patina, marking the history of your sessions.
